In Georgia, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of 100% cotton medical scrubs were delivered to 15 hospitals in rural communities as the result of an initiative which brought Deltapine together with a number of U.S.-based industry partners. The fabric used to create the scrubs was made with 100% Deltapine cotton and treated with PROTX2® AV, an antimicrobial technology that has been shown in lab tests to destroy viruses. It was the first time PROTX2 AV had been formulated for use on all-cotton medical scrubs, and the timing couldn’t have been better.
Another avenue for our vast community outreach efforts is the ongoing investment in our nation’s next generation of agricultural leaders and innovators. DEKALB brand has supported the FFA organization at both the national and state levels for more than 50 years. After all, many of our employees — and most of our customers — were raised on family farms and belonged to FFA as children and teenagers. By investing in today’s ag youth, we help ensure America’s farming business remains in good hands.
An additional long-standing commitment to our communities made by DEKALB, Asgrow and Deltapine continues to be our partnership with the America’s Farmers programs, sponsored by the Bayer Fund. Through its three-pronged approach, this initiative has contributed over $35 million to thousands of nonprofit organizations in rural areas since 2010, with millions more being awarded in scholarships to students studying in ag-related fields.
